THIS IS AN UNBEILIEVABLE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN ONE OF THE RAREST CAMARO'S EVER PRODUCED ! IN N1965 GM BEGAN WORK ON A "MUSTANG FIGHTER" THE PROJECT VEHICLE WAS FIRST NAMED "XP-836. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE NAME WAS CHANGED TO "PANTHER" !!! THE "PANTHER" PROJECT AND PROTOTYPES WERE WRITTEN ABOUT AT GREAT LENGTH BY THE AUTOMOTIVE PRESS WITH ALL THE EXCITEMENT OF A PENDING RIVALY WITH MUSTANG ! CHEVROLET'S SLEEK NEW CAT WOULD SOON BE CHASING DOWN MUSTANGS. BY EARLY 1966, RALPH NADER'S IMPACT ON THE CORVAIR FORCED GM TO TONE DOWN THE IMAGE OF THERE NEW CAR AND USE A LESS AGGRESSIVE NAME. ON JUNE 28, 1966 CHEVROLET MANAGER E.M."PETE" ESTES ANNOUNCED TO 200 JOURNALISTS THAT THE NEW CHEVROLET WOULD BE CALLED THE "CAMARO" RATHER THAN THE PANTHER. LESS THAN 50 "PANTHERS" WERE EVER PRODUCED AND ONLY 2 ARE KNOWN TO STILL EXIST !!! SLP AND GM DECIDED TO BRING BACK THE LOOK AND ROAR OF THE "ORIGIONAL PANTHER". ONLY 100 WERE PRODUCED !!!
